Education & Experience

Robert Jellison received his B.S in Education (Math/Physics) from Kent State University in 1976. After several years of teaching, he pursued graduate studies in limnology with Prof. John Melack at University of California, Santa Barbara. After receiving his Ph.D in 1992 on the "Onset, Breakdown, and Persistence of Meromixis in Mono Lake", he received an appointment at the Marine Science Institute where he has continued his research on the mixing and plankton dynamics of Mono and other Sierran lakes. In 1999, he co-hosted with John Melack and David Herbst the 7th International Conference on Salt Lake Research, Death Valley, USA. He has acted as webmaster and secretary-treasurer of ISSLR since 1999.

Candidate's Statement

My active involvement with ISSLR began with the co-hosting of the 7th Int. Conf. Salt Lake Research. These past three years, in addition to the duties of secretary/treasurer, I undertook the incorporation of ISSLR and associated legal work, and the development of an interactive web site (www.isslr.org). I have enjoyed interacting with members of our small research community and look forward to furthering the goals of our society and serving ISSLR's members in the future. -- Bob Jellison
